History

Tsunezumi Station opened on 14 March 1985 with the inauguration of the Kashima Rinkai Railway's Ōarai Kashima Line, 8.3 km east of Mito. The station occupies the easternmost extent of present-day Mito and takes its name from the former Tsunezumi-mura, which was absorbed into Mito in 1992. The single elevated island platform is unattended. Surrounding land is largely rice paddy, with National Routes 51 and 245 nearby and the Mito-Ōarai interchange on the Tōmito Road within easy reach. The Hitachinaka Seaside Railway's Takada-no-Tekkyō and Nakaminato stations sit about 2 km to the north.

Notes

The village whose name the station carries no longer exists as an independent municipality — Tsunezumi was absorbed into the city of Mito in 1992, seven years after the station opened.
