History

Ashikaga Flower Park Station opened on 1 April 2018 on JR East's Ryōmō Line in Ashikaga, Tochigi, becoming the newest station on the line. The municipality of Ashikaga and JR East's Takasaki Branch agreed on the project in 2016, signed the basic and execution accords in spring 2017, and broke ground on 9 August that year. Construction costs totalled approximately 1.5 billion yen in total (station facilities 819 million yen split between JR East, Ashikaga City and Tochigi Prefecture; forecourt approximately 400 million yen borne by Ashikaga City), with timing aligned to the prefecture's April-June 2018 destination campaign. The station name, selected by a public vote of Ashikaga residents, was confirmed by JR East on 7 December 2017. A separate Ashikaga Flower Park fare table replaced the shared Tomita Station rate on 14 March 2020.

Notes

Until 14 March 2020 the station shared the fare table of neighbouring Tomita; Suica and other IC cards could not be used for travel between the two, so paper tickets had to be bought.
