History

Sakaimachi Station is a Tobu Railway station on the Isesaki Line in Isesaki, Gunma, 106.3 km from the Asakusa terminus and numbered TI-22. It opened on 27 March 1910 with the completion of the Ōta–Shin-Isesaki section. The station's address was originally part of Sakai-machi village in Sawa District; the 2005 merger that re-formed Isesaki City absorbed Sakai, and the address became Isesaki-shi Sakai Dodo. The layout is two staggered side platforms linked by a footbridge with the station building on the south side, and a paid park-and-ride lot is provided (discounted for limited-express Ryōmō riders). PASMO simplified gates are installed.
