History

Fujioka Station is a Tobu Railway station on the Nikkō Line in Tochigi City, Tochigi, 29.5 km from Tōbu-Dōbutsu-Kōen and numbered TN-08. It opened on 1 April 1929 with the Sugito (now Tōbu-Dōbutsu-Kōen)–Shin-Kanuma extension. Originally laid out with 2 island platforms and 4 tracks — including outer overtaking tracks used by limited expresses Kegon, Kinu and the express Yunosato passing slower semi-expresses — the layout was rationalised on 25 March 1997 when overtaking duties moved to the newly opened Itakura-Tōyō-Daimae Station, leaving the current single island platform serving two tracks. A new station forecourt completed by Tochigi City entered service in December 2024.
