History

Narushima Station, numbered TI-41, serves the city of Tatebayashi in Gunma Prefecture and is on the Tōbu Koizumi Line, 2.6 kilometres from the Tatebayashi terminus. The first station opened on 10 April 1926 as a stop on the Koizumi Line then operated by the Jōshū Railway company, which Tōbu Railway absorbed in 1937. The station was moved to its current location on 10 February 1944. Station numbering was applied across the Tōbu network on 17 March 2012, when Narushima became TI-41. It has an island platform with two tracks, linked to the wooden station building south of the line by an underground passageway. A short-turn shuttle from Tatebayashi to Narushima ran until the 19 March 2003 timetable revision.
