History
Hatori Station opened on 1 December 1895 as a stop on the Nippon Railway. The line was nationalised in 1906 and was reclassified as part of the Jōban Line in October 1909. Freight handling ended in 1971 and parcel traffic in February 1984, after which the station became a JR East stop at the 1987 privatisation of Japanese National Railways. Suica went live in November 2001. A major rebuild beginning in September 2017 produced a new elevated station house and an east-west passage; the through-passage and footbridge concourse came into full service on 16 February 2020.
