History
Aonuma Station, on the JR East Koumi Line in Saku, Nagano, opened on 28 December 1915 as Irisawa Stop on the Saku Railway between Nakagomi and Haguroshita. It was promoted to a full station on 1 September 1934 when the Saku Railway was nationalised into the Ministry of Railways' Kōumi-Kita Line. Operations were suspended from 11 November 1944, and the station reopened on 1 March 1952 under its present name. The Koumi Line then passed to JR East at the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. The station has a single ground-level side platform serving one bi-directional track and is unstaffed.
