History

Ishiwara Station opened on 7 October 1901 on the Chichibu Railway's Chichibu Main Line in what is now the city of Kumagaya, Saitama Prefecture. It is station CR11, located 17.0 km from the line's eastern terminus at Hanyū. The station became PASMO-compatible and was simultaneously unstaffed on 12 March 2022; before that date it had been a contracted station managed by Kumagaya Station. The grounds include an island platform serving two tracks and four adjoining stabling sidings, with the station building connected to the platform by an underground passage.

Notes

The kanji 石原 in the local Kumagaya place name is normally read "Ishihara," but the station name uses the alternative reading "Ishiwara," which can confuse first-time visitors looking it up.
