History

Tarōmaru Angelland Station opened on 30 December 1928 as Tarōmaru Station on what is now the Mikuni Awara Line. The line passed to Keifuku Electric Railway through a 1942 merger and operations were halted from 25 June 2001 in the wake of a fatal head-on collision on Keifuku's Echizen Main Line. The station reopened on 20 July 2003 under successor operator Echizen Railway, having been transferred to the new company on 1 February that year. It was renamed Tarōmaru Angelland on 25 March 2017 to reflect its proximity to Fukui Prefectural Children's Science Museum (Angel Land Fukui). The unattended station consists of one side platform serving a single bidirectional track.

Notes

The Angelland suffix in the 2017 rename refers to Fukui Prefectural Children's Science Museum ("Angel Land Fukui") — and despite the name of the next station along the line, Heartopia Harue, the Heartpia community facility it references is actually closer to this station.
