History
Nagatoro Station opened on 14 September 1911 on the Chichibu Railway as Hodosan Station, named for the nearby sacred Mount Hodosan. The station was renamed Nagatoro on 7 July 1923. In 1997 the original wooden building was selected for the inaugural Kantō no Eki Hyakusen list, cited as a station preserved in its opening-era condition and emblematic of the line's history. PASMO IC card acceptance began on 12 March 2022. The station sees considerable seasonal traffic for visitors to the Nagatoro gorge and Hodosan Shrine, and serves as a turnaround for through trains from the Seibu line.
