History

Minami-yorii Station opened on 2020-10-31 on the Tōbu Tōjō Main Line as station number TJ 35, with the secondary name Honda Yorii-mae. Honda Motor planned to consolidate vehicle assembly from its Sayama plant into the Yorii plant, and the resulting jump in staff threatened to worsen the chronic congestion on National Route 254. To relieve road traffic and improve worker access, Honda asked Tōbu Railway to build a new station and covered the full construction cost as a requested station. Talks began in November 2017, the Kanto Transport Bureau approved construction in March 2019, the new station was announced on 2019-06-03, and the names Minami-yorii Station and Honda Yorii-mae were finalised on 2019-12-23. A fare-calculation special treatment that matched fares with the neighbouring stations was abolished on 2021-03-13, and proper fares to and from Minami-yorii took effect.

Notes

The platform area is reached by a 90-metre single side platform on an embankment, and a third-floor corridor in the station building links directly to Honda's adjacent Saitama-factory assembly plant.
