History
Kawagishi Station opened on 28 October 1923 as a new station of the Ministry of Railways' Chūō Main Line in what is now Okaya, Nagano Prefecture, handling both passengers and freight. It was transferred to Japanese National Railways in 1949, freight services ended on 21 February 1963, the station was made unstaffed in March 1984 and the booking moved to simple consignment. A debris flow on 15 August 2021 stopped trains for the day, and a new station building entered service on 29 October 2023.
