Even after the surrounding station was unstaffed, Kita-Sabae held a curious distinction: until the 2024 transfer to Hapi-Line Fukui, JR West's Kanazawa Branch entrusted a retired JNR/JR worker living nearby as its sole "Honorary Station Master" in Fukui Prefecture.
