History

Shōmaru Station opened on 14 October 1969 in the city of Hannō, Saitama Prefecture, on the Seibu Chichibu Line, 6.3 km from the line's official starting point at Agano. System-wide station numbering was introduced across Seibu Railway during fiscal 2012, with this station designated SI33. Permanent staffing ended on 1 March 2023, when the station was switched to a patrol arrangement and over-the-counter ticket and IC-card top-up services ceased. The station has one island platform serving two tracks, with the station building set below platform level and reached by an underpass on the Hannō side. The Seibu Chichibu-bound exit of the platform leads directly to the Shōmaru Tunnel.
