History
Tsurugashima Station opened on 10 April 1932 on the Tōbu Tōjō Line, midway between Ikebukuro and Yorii at the 37.0 km mark. The present elevated station building, with two side platforms and exits on both sides of the tracks, was completed in 1983 and barrier-free upgrades adding escalators and elevators followed between 2009 and 2010. Station numbering as TJ-24 was introduced on 17 March 2012, and the March 2023 timetable revision elevated the stop to a Rapid Express stopping pattern after the line's older Rapid service was abolished; through-running via the Tōkyū Shin-yokohama Line, Sōtetsu Shin-yokohama Line and Sōtetsu network also began on that date.

Notes
Although the station carries Tsurugashima's name and sits on the city boundary, the city office lies closer to the adjacent Wakaba Station rather than to Tsurugashima itself.
