History
Musashi-Takahagi Station opened on 1940-07-22 in the village of Takahagi, Iruma-gun, Saitama. Because Takahagi Station on the Jōban Line — in Takahagi, Ibaraki — had opened first, the station took the prefix Musashi, after the historical province. The points were converted to spring-loaded turnouts in February 1958, freight handling ended on 1961-02-01, and parcel handling on 1984-02-01. The station passed to JR East at the 1987-04-01 privatisation. Suica IC service became available on 2001-11-18. Conversion to an elevated station building began on 2004-03-03, and the new building entered service on 2005-02-20; ahead of that work, the VIP lounge in the old building was opened to the public in May 2002.

Notes
Before its 2005 rebuild, the station kept a small VIP lounge and air-raid shelter that had been used by Emperor Shōwa when he attended graduation ceremonies at the nearby former Imperial Army Aviation Academy.
