History
Minami-Koshigaya Station opened on 1 April 1973 with Japanese National Railways' Musashino Line, and was among the first twelve stations in Japan to receive pilot automatic ticket gates. Tobu's adjacent Shin-Koshigaya Station opened on 23 July 1974, creating an interchange a short walk away. Operation transferred to JR East at the 1987 privatisation, and Suica began on 18 November 2001. A rebuild between April 2011 and February 2014 added lifts, moved the gates west to enlarge the concourse, and consolidated separate north and south entrances under one east-west free passageway. An IC-card-only gate was added on 20 March 2021, and the Midori-no-Madoguchi was downsized to a temporary window on 23 July 2022.
