History
Kami-Fukuoka Station opened on 1 May 1914 with the inauguration of the Tōjō Railway's Ikebukuro–Tamenosawa section, named after the village of Fukuoka. The Tōjō Railway was absorbed by Tobu Railway on 22 July 1920, and the line was electrified between Ikebukuro and Kawagoe-shi on 1 October 1929. In November 1959 Tobu's first overhead-bridge station building opened here. Through-running with the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line began on 25 August 1987, with the Fukutoshin Line on 14 June 2008, and with the Tōkyū Tōyoko/Minatomirai network on 16 March 2013. Sōtetsu Shin-Yokohama through services began on 18 March 2023. Station-numbering label TJ-19 was assigned on 17 March 2012, and the Tobu commuter-pass office closed on 9 April 2021.

When the surrounding municipality was upgraded to city status in 1972, it took its name from the station and became Kami-Fukuoka City; that city was merged into the newly formed Fujimino City in 2005.
