History

Iriso Station opened on 21 March 1953 as a stop on the Seibu Shinjuku Line, the 47.5-km route linking Seibu-Shinjuku in Tokyo with Hon-Kawagoe in Saitama Prefecture, in what is now the city of Sayama. The station has two opposed side platforms serving two tracks, connected by a footbridge. Station numbering rolled out across the Seibu network during fiscal 2012 assigned Iriso the code SS25. The Seibu Railway lists the station among the busiest fifty-odd on its network: in fiscal 2019 it was the 56th-busiest stop, with around 17,764 boarding and alighting passengers per day.
