History
Asakadai Station opened on 6 August 1974 on the Tōbu Tōjō Line in Asaka, Saitama, primarily to provide a transfer point with the JR Musashino Line's Kita-Asaka Station, which had opened the year before. Initially served only by limited expresses and local trains, the station became an express stop on 26 March 1998 to improve transfer convenience. Tōkyō Metro Fukutoshin Line through-services to Shibuya began on 14 June 2008, and Tōyoko/Minatomirai through-services to Yokohama and Motomachi-Chūkagai began on 16 March 2013. Station numbering was introduced on 17 March 2012, assigning TJ-13. Following the March 2023 timetable reorganisation, Rapid Express services now also call here, while Rapid services were abolished.

Notes
Asakadai shares its north-side plaza with JR East's Kita-Asaka Station on the Musashino Line; the two stops sit at right angles and connect via a roofed passage, making them effectively a single interchange despite their different names.
