History
Shimōsa-Manzaki Station opened on 10 August 1901 as a Narita Railway station handling both passengers and freight, in what is now the city of Narita, Chiba Prefecture, on the Abiko Branch Line of the Narita Line 27.3 km from Abiko. The Narita Railway was nationalised on 1 September 1920, becoming a Japanese Government Railways stop and later a Japanese National Railways stop. The station passed to JR East with the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, and the station building was repaired and modernised over 2006-2007. The station retains two opposed side platforms connected by a footbridge alongside its single-storey wooden station building, and although the station itself is unstaffed an intercom links passengers to remote staff when needed.
