History
Kotesashi Station was promoted from the Kotesashigahara signal post — opened in 1966 at the entrance to Seibu's Kotesashi Depot — to a full station on 20 November 1970. The original station building stood at the western end of the platform on the north side. A new footbridge station building with north and south entrances was built mid-platform on 30 March 1979. Kotesashi became a Rapid Express stop in the 6 December 1993 revision, and a waiting room opened on 26 December 2006. Station numbering arrived in fiscal 2012, assigning SI19. Tōkyū Tōyoko Line through-services to Yokohama and Motomachi-Chūkagai commenced on 16 March 2013. The adjacent Kotesashi Depot makes the station a major terminator of services.

Notes
Until 31 August 1915 the name 'Kotesashi' belonged to a different station — today's Nishi-Tokorozawa — which means today's Kotesashi Station carries a name that was reassigned several decades after the original ceased to exist.
