History

Shimo Station opened on 29 November 1991 in Kita, Tokyo, as a station on the then-newly built northern section of the Teito Rapid Transit Authority's Namboku Line. The station was contracted out for operation from April 2002, and the facility passed to Tokyo Metro on 1 April 2004 when the Teito Rapid Transit Authority was privatised. PASMO IC service began on 18 March 2007. The platform layout is a single underground island platform on the second basement level, equipped with full-height platform-edge doors. On 13 March 2015 the network-standard departure jingle was replaced with two station-original melodies composed by Yasuyuki Yamazaki ("Toki no Shirabe") and Naoya Fukushima ("Tsuki wa Minami ni").

Notes

In fiscal 2024 Shimo was Tokyo Metro's third-least used station network-wide, behind Nishigahara and Sakuradamon.
