History

Gotanno Station opened on 1 October 1924 on what is today the Tobu Skytree section of the Tobu Isesaki Line in Adachi, Tokyo, then part of the rural village of Ayase in Minamiadachi District. The line was elevated in March 1968, and in April 1974 the platforms were reconfigured during the quadruple-tracking between Kita-Senju and Takenotsuka; the platform now sits only on the local-line tracks while express trains pass on the outer pair. Escalators followed in February 1993 and an elevator in March 2008. Tobu introduced network-wide station numbering on 17 March 2012, designating Gotanno as TS-11, and platform-edge doors entered service on both tracks during early 2024.

Notes

A 2020 timetable revision sent almost all departures into the through Hibiya Line service, so passengers bound for Asakusa now have to change at Kita-Senju.
