History

Hibarigaoka Station is on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line in the city of Nishitōkyō, Tokyo, with two elevated island platforms serving four tracks and lying 16.4 kilometres from the Ikebukuro terminus, between Hōya and Higashi-Kurume. It first opened on 11 June 1924 as Tanashimachi Station and took its present name on 1 May 1959, when the adjacent Hibarigaoka Housing Estate was completed. Station numbering across the Seibu network was introduced during fiscal 2012, with Hibarigaoka becoming SI13. Through-running to Yokohama and Motomachi-Chūkagai via the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin, Tōkyū Tōyoko and Minatomirai lines commenced on 16 March 2013.

Notes

There is also a Hibarigaoka Station in Hokkaidō — a coincidence acknowledged in the Tokyo station's own English Wikipedia entry, which carries the explicit "(Tokyo)" disambiguator.
