History

Arakawa-shakomae Station (SA 13) is a Toden Arakawa Line tram stop in Nishi-Ogu, Arakawa-ku, Tokyo, the westernmost and northernmost stop in Arakawa Ward. It opened on 1 April 1913 as Funakata-shakomae Station with the Ōji Electric Tramway's opening between Mi-no-wa (now Mi-no-wabashi) and Asukayama-shita (now Kajiwara), and was renamed Arakawa-shakomae around the time it joined the Tokyo City Tramway on 1 February 1942. The unusual 3-platform/2-track layout has separate alighting and boarding platforms for trams heading to Mi-no-wabashi, with the depot's inbound/outbound tracks running between them.
