History

Sakaemachi Station opened on 16 March 2019 in the city of Toyama, on the Toyama Chihō Railway Fujikoshi Line (operationally part of the Fujikoshi-Kamidaki Line). Built between the existing Inarimachi and Fujikoshi stations at the request of local residents and to serve the newly opened Toyama Prefectural Central Hospital and Toyama Prefectural University Faculty of Nursing immediately adjacent, the station carries the secondary name "Kenritsu-Chūō-Byōin-guchi" (Prefectural Central Hospital Entrance). It is the operator's first new station since Shin-Kurobe opened in 2015, has a single ground-level side platform 60 metres long under a full-length canopy, is unstaffed, and is numbered T58. Construction cost approximately 65 million yen.

Notes

Sakaemachi was the first newly built station on the Toyama Chihō Railway since Shin-Kurobe opened in 2015 — and was carried into the timetable without a single ticket window: it has been an unstaffed stop from the day services began.
