Nishigahara-yonchome

西ヶ原四丁目

History

Nishigahara-yonchōme Station (SA 19) is a Toden Arakawa Line tram stop in Nishi-gahara 4-chōme, Kita-ku, Tokyo. It opened on 20 August 1911 as Takinogawa Station with the original Ōji Electric Tramway between Asukayama-ue (now Asukayama) and Ōtsuka (now Ōtsuka-eki-mae). On 1 February 1942 it became part of the Tokyo City Tramway's Takinogawa Line (today the Arakawa Line). The Takinogawa Line was suspended in 1944 and resumed on 10 July 1946; the stop was renamed Nishi-gahara-yonchōme in 1953.

Notes

The stop's address uses the standard kanji 'ke' (ケ) for the place name (西ケ原四丁目), but Tokyo's Transportation Bureau styles the station name with the smaller kanji 'ke' (ヶ) (西ヶ原四丁目) — a minor official typographical mismatch that the article explicitly notes.
