History

Komagome Station opened on 15 November 1910 as a stop on the Yamanote Line under the Japanese Government Railways, in Toshima ward, Tokyo. The station building was destroyed by an air raid on 13 April 1945 and rebuilt postwar. Following the 1 April 1987 privatisation of Japanese National Railways, the JR Yamanote facilities passed to JR East. A subway station on the Teito Rapid Transit Authority Namboku Line opened beneath the surface station on 29 November 1991; those subway facilities transferred to Tokyo Metro at its 1 April 2004 corporatisation. Station numbering followed in 2016, with Komagome assigned the Yamanote code JY10. Chest-height platform doors were installed on the Yamanote platforms during fiscal 2013.
