History
Funabashi-Nichidaimae Station opened on 27 April 1996 with the Tōyō Rapid Railway Line, a third-sector route extending the Tokyo Metro Tōzai Line east through Chiba Prefecture. The station serves the Funabashi campus of Nihon University and was built at the university's request — Nihon University funded ¥3.43 billion of the construction cost, with the rest covered by the Urban Development Corporation. The original working name was "Tsuboi Station", but the present name was adopted at opening to advertise the campus link. An east entrance and ticket hall, also funded jointly, were completed on 30 October 2004. The station was selected as one of the "Top 100 Stations of the Kantō Region" in 1997.

Notes
The station was selected as one of the "Top 100 Stations of the Kantō Region" in 1997, with the citation praising its column-free, futuristic concourse — designed by a Nihon University professor who taught at the campus the station serves.
