History
Tachihi Station opened on 27 November 1998 with the first Tama Toshi Monorail section between Kamikitadai and Tachikawa-kita. During planning it was provisionally called Izumi Station after the locality, but the operator adopted the name Tachihi after the Tachihi Group (Tachihi Enterprise, Shin-Tachikawa Aviation and affiliates) whose extensive landholdings surround the site. A major rebuild aligned with the surrounding redevelopment of Lalaport Tachikawa Tachihi opened the south exit on 15 October 2015, added escalators and stairs, and redesignated the original concourse as the north exit. Station-side operations are outsourced to Keio Setsubi Service, part of the Keio Group. Station numbering applied in February 2018 designated the stop TT14.

Notes
Ridership at Tachihi rose roughly 2.9× year-on-year in fiscal 2015 after the Lalaport Tachikawa Tachihi shopping mall opened directly adjacent to the station.
