History

Inuboh Station traces its origins to December 1913 as a stop on the short-lived Chōshi Sightseeing Railway, but the station at its present location opened on 21 June 1935 as a temporary stop called Tōdaimae ("in front of the lighthouse"), becoming a full-time station from 14 August 1935. The original Inuboh Station, 400 metres south, was closed and Tōdaimae was renamed Inuboh in 1942. The Portuguese-style station building with a large forecourt was completed in December 1990, and on 14 October 1997 Inuboh was named to the first "Best 100 Stations of Kantō" list. The station was renovated in 2013. Today it is a staffed daytime stop on the Chōshi Electric Railway Line, 5.5 kilometres from Chōshi.

Notes

From late December into 1 January, the Chōshi Electric Railway runs overnight service between Chōshi and Inuboh to carry visitors to the first sunrise of the year at Cape Inubō; Inuboh's platforms are noticeably longer than the rest of the line in order to handle the seasonal crowd.
