History

Higashi-Kaijin Station opened on 27 April 1996 in the Kaijin neighbourhood of Funabashi, Chiba, operated by the third-sector Tōyō Rapid Railway as the second station from the Nishi-Funabashi terminus (station code TR02). The station name had been confirmed on 17 August 1995. A single island platform lies on basement level 2, with ticket gates on basement level 1; the stop sits within the 2.7-kilometre Kaijin Tunnel, the longest tunnel on the Tōyō Rapid line. A scissors crossover toward Hasama allows emergency reversals although no regular trains terminate here. Manned ticket gates and one staffed window have been retained alongside automated turnstiles.

Notes

Although the west exit opens directly toward the Tōbu Urban Park Line viaduct, transfers to Tōbu's Shin-Funabashi and Keisei's Funabashi station require walking out through the east exit because no direct connection was built.
