History
Tagiri Station opened on 11 February 1918 as a stop on the Iida Line in the town of Iijima in Nagano Prefecture's Kamiina District. Its original site lay on a curve, and in June 1984 the entire station was relocated roughly 150 metres south to a straighter section of track. With the dissolution of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 the stop transferred to JR Central. The station has a single ground-level side platform serving one bidirectional track, with no station building — only a small shelter — and is unstaffed. It sits 160.1 km from the line's starting point at Toyohashi.
