History

Bakurochō Station is a railway station in Chūō, Tokyo, on the JR East Sōbu Rapid Line. The deep-level underground station opened on 15 July 1972 as part of the Sōbu Line's rapid-service trunk between Tokyo and Chiba. It has a single island platform serving two tracks. Although operated by JR East, Bakurochō is connected by underground passages to two nearby subway stations—Higashi-nihombashi on the Toei Asakusa Line and Bakuro-yokoyama on the Toei Shinjuku Line—forming a sprawling de-facto interchange. Track 1 carries up trains bound for Tokyo and Track 2 carries down trains toward Chiba.
