History

Nishi-ojima Station opened on 21 December 1978 as a station on the Toei Shinjuku Line of the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation, located in Ojima, Kōtō, Tokyo. The station carries the number S-14 and consists of a single island platform served by two tracks. Concourse and ticket gates are on the first basement level, with the platform on the second basement level. Use of the IC card PASMO began on 18 March 2007. In 2006 a new elevator was installed connecting Exit A4 to the concourse level, and another between the concourse and platform levels. The station is located underneath the intersection of Tokyo Metropolitan Routes 50 (Shin-Ōhashi-dōri) and 306 (Meiji-dōri).

Until 1972 the area immediately east of the present station was traversed by the No. 29 and No. 38 routes of the Toden Sunamachi tramway; the line's roadbed has since been redeveloped as the Ojima Ryokudo Park.
