History

Monoi Station began on 4 March 1911 as the Monoi Signal Station of the Imperial Japanese Government Railways on the Sōbu Main Line. It was upgraded to a signalled stop on 1 April 1922 and to a full passenger station on 5 April 1937; the wooden 1944 depot served until the end of the century. Parcel handling ran from 1952 until June 1972, the line passed to JR East at the April 1987 privatisation, and automated turnstiles were installed on 21 October 1995. An over-track concourse opened on 12 April 1998, Suica fare-card service began on 18 November 2001, and platforms were extended on 16 October 2004 to accept 15-car rapid trains.

Notes

Although service-pattern signage labels the station with both Sōbu Main Line and Narita Line colours, on-platform indicators show only the Sōbu Main Line yellow except near the elevator.
