History
Takarachō Station opened on 28 February 1963 as part of Toei Subway Line 1, the network's original route, which was renamed the Asakusa Line on 1 July 1978. The station takes its name from a Chūō-ward neighborhood named in 1931 as an auspicious place-name; that town disappeared in 1978 when it was merged into the larger Kyōbashi address block, but the station retained the older label. PASMO acceptance began on 18 March 2007. Side platforms straddle a Shōwa-dōri underpass, with later elevator-only entrances added in December 2010 and December 2011 to improve barrier-free access on both platform sides.

Notes
The neighbourhood name "Takarachō" was erased from the address map in 1978 when it was merged into Kyōbashi, but the station preserves the old place-name.
