History

Ginza-itchōme Station opened on 30 October 1974 as the southern terminus of the Teito Rapid Transit Authority's new Yūrakuchō Line, initially operating with a 140-metre temporary platform because surrounding facilities were unfinished. The full island platform entered service on 18 June 1976, and on 27 March 1980 the line extended south to Shintomichō, demoting Ginza-itchōme to an intermediate stop. Privatisation moved the station to Tokyo Metro on 1 April 2004 and PASMO acceptance began on 18 March 2007. Platform-edge doors were activated on 14 April 2012, and from 6 June 2020 transfer service to the connected Ginza Station on the Ginza, Marunouchi and Hibiya lines began.

Notes

The station was one of the first three on the Tokyo subway network — alongside Nakano-sakaue and Ebisu — to open with automatic ticket gates, though those gates were temporarily removed after passengers from other lines repeatedly jammed them with non-magnetic tickets.
