History
Shin-Narashino Station opened on 3 March 1986 on the Japanese National Railways' Keiyō Line, planned under the working name Saginuma but renamed to flag the area's intended role as a new urban centre of Narashino. The breakup of JNR on 1 April 1987 transferred the station to JR East, and Suica use began on 18 November 2001. Departure melodies were introduced on 15 March 2007, and the staffed Midori-no-Madoguchi ticket office closed on 9 March 2016. The station has three elevated platforms serving four tracks above the Keiyō Vehicle Centre, with the outer pair forming the main running tracks and the inner pair serving as siding and turnback tracks.

Notes
Although planned as the new centre of Narashino, the eponymous Saginuma district lies more than a kilometre away; even today the closest convenient access from Saginuma is via the city's Happy Bus or Keisei Tsudanuma Station.
