History
Yamashita Station opened on 1 May 1925 as Yamashita Station (山下駅) in what is now Gōtokuji 1-chōme, Setagaya City, Tokyo. It was renamed Tamaden Yamashita (玉電山下駅) on 16 October 1939 during the line's Tamaden era, then reverted to Yamashita on 11 May 1969. Platform raising work was carried out on 11 February 2001. Today it is station SG08 on the Tōkyū Setagaya Line. Yamashita is directly adjacent to Odakyū Odawara Line's Gōtokuji Station, and passengers can transfer between the two. The stop has two opposed side platforms; staff are posted during the morning rush, when fare collection is performed.

Notes
During the Tamagawa Line era, a crossover existed just past Yamashita toward the old Tamaden Matsubara stop (across the Kitazawa River), and short-turn trains ran the Shibuya - Yamashita section. The crossover survived the closure of most of the Tamagawa Line but was later removed.
