History
Nishi-Taishidō Station opened on 18 January 1925 as Nishiyama Station (西山駅) on the Tamagawa Electric Railway. It was renamed Nishi-Taishidō on 16 October 1939. The Setagaya Line, on which the station now sits, was split off as an independent operation when the parent Tamagawa Line was abolished in 1969 and is today operated by Tōkyū. Station number SG02 was assigned with the introduction of line numbering in 2007.

Notes
Nishi-Taishidō sits only about 300 m from Sangen-Jaya, the Setagaya Line's terminus, after Sangen-Jaya was relocated closer to Nishi-Taishidō during the early-Heisei redevelopment of the area. The two stations are within easy walking distance and share a common living area, so almost no one rides one stop between them. Each ground-level side platform has an approach-indicator display.
