History
Shinonome Station opened on 30 March 1996 as stop R02 on what was then called the Tokyo Waterfront Area Rapid Transit Rinkai Fukutoshin Line, between Shin-Kiba and Tōkyō Teleport on a viaduct built atop the never-finished JNR Keiyō Freight Line. The stop had not been in the original plan and was added as a petition station at the request of Kōtō Ward, with the Ministry of Transport authorising it on 31 March 1993. The line was renamed the Rinkai Line on 1 September 2000, Suica IC cards entered service on 1 December 2002, and station numbering was introduced in 2016.

Notes
Because the station was retrofitted onto an existing freight-line viaduct, its layout uses two side platforms — the only side-platform station anywhere on the otherwise underground Rinkai Line.
