History
Sakura-shimmachi Station opened on 7 April 1977 on the Tōkyū Den-en-toshi Line in Setagaya, Tokyo, operated by Tokyu Corporation. It is located 6.3 kilometres from the line's eastern terminus at Shibuya. The underground station is unusual in stacking its two side platforms vertically rather than placing them across from one another: the concourse and ticket gates are on the first basement level, with the down-direction platform (toward Chuo-Rinkan) on the second basement and the up-direction platform (toward Shibuya) on the third basement. The station serves a commercial street within walking distance of the Tsurumaki residential area and the Hasegawa Machiko Art Museum.

Notes
The station's platforms are stacked one above the other across three basement levels rather than facing each other on a single level.
