History

Keiō-Tama-Center Station opened on 18 October 1974 as part of the Keiō Sagamihara Line's extension into the new Tama New Town development, located in Tama, Tokyo. The station, an elevated structure with two island platforms serving four tracks, was built with the surrounding "Toshi Center" district as the planned commercial heart of the new town. Limited-express service began on 28 May 1992, returning on 22 February 2013 after a hiatus, and the Keiō Liner premium service started stopping here on 22 February 2018. From 1 November 2016 the platforms have used the Sanrio Puroland theme song "Puro March" as the train approach melody, marking the station as the closest to Sanrio Puroland.

Notes

Since November 2016 the platform train-approach melody has been an orchestral arrangement of "Puro March", the theme song of Sanrio Puroland, the indoor theme park reachable from the station.
