History
Midori Station, written 水鳥 but read “Midori,” opened on 25 March 1989 when the third-sector Tarumi Railway extended its Tarumi Line from Kamiumi (then Konjō) to Tarumi, in the city of Motosu, Gifu Prefecture. The station is 32.5 kilometres from the line’s terminus at Ōgaki and has one ground-level side platform serving a single bi-directional track. It is unattended, with only a small shelter and a flush toilet near the entrance. In October 1991 the platform was extended from 25 to 110 metres to accommodate seasonal excursion trains and through services from JR.

Notes
The kanji 水鳥 (literally “water bird”) are usually read mizutori, but the station name keeps the local reading Midori — the same sound as a separate station on the JR Hokkaido Senmō Main Line written 緑.
