History

Karakida Station opened on 27 March 1990 as the terminus of the Odakyu Tama Line, located in Tama, Tokyo. The station was sited along the corridor planned for a further extension toward Sagamihara, and was realised because the Kita-Mi rail-yard land for the line's vehicles was available adjacent and local residents petitioned for a station. Romance Car limited-express "Homeway" and express services began calling here on 2 December 2000, and on 17 March 2018 the introduction of rapid express and commuter express services brought a major timetable change. Direct services to and from the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line resumed on 15 March 2025.

Notes

The platform is mostly in Nakazawa rather than in Karakida itself; only the station office and adjacent commercial space sit within the Karakida district whose name the station bears.
