History

Ikuta Station opened on 1 April 1927 on what is now the Odakyu Odawara Line as Higashi-Ikuta Station, named in opposition to the then Nishi-Ikuta (today Yomiuriland-mae). It became a regular all-stations stop in June 1945, was added to the Semi-Express network in October 1946, the Sakura Semi-Express in 1948, and the Rush-Hour Semi-Express in March 1960. The station was renamed Ikuta on 1 March 1964. A new overhead concourse and free passage was completed on 27 December 1983, and the north-side station building was added in October 1984. Numbering OH 20 was introduced in January 2014.

Notes

During the Second World War the surrounding Ikuta area housed the Imperial Japanese Army's Noborito Research Institute, and only military personnel and residents were permitted to alight at the station.
