History
Minami-Ōsawa Station opened on 21 May 1988 as the provisional western terminus of the Keio Sagamihara Line, when service was extended from Keio-Tama-Center; until then the surrounding new town had been served by replacement buses. The station became a through stop on 30 March 1990 when the line was extended to Hashimoto. Rapid trains began stopping on 6 April 1991, and Express services on 27 March 2001. Station improvements completed on 31 July 2007 brought the 'Frente Minami-Ōsawa' building, with a five-storey annex opening on 3 December 2009. Limited Express service was restored on 22 February 2013, and Keio Liner began stopping on 22 February 2018.

Notes
The station's planning name was 'Yugi-daira', and platforms were originally laid out for a two-island four-track configuration in anticipation of a possible later extension toward Lake Tsukui that was never built.
