History

Kaminoge Station opened on 1 November 1929 as a station of the Meguro-Kamata Electric Railway Futako-Tamagawa Line, the forerunner of today's Tokyu Ōimachi Line. Automated faregates were installed in April 1999, and a major rebuild began in June 2006. A new station building entered service on 20 December 2007, replacing the old one which was reopened as a north entrance on 18 December 2010 after refurbishment. An upbound passing track was added in January 2008 ahead of the 28 March 2008 timetable, when the Ōimachi Line's express services began calling here. The full rebuild concluded on 31 March 2011.

Notes

The two station buildings flanking the cutting are linked by a shared roof bridging the Fudo-bashi overpass, designed by architect Tadao Ando; the project received the 2012 Railway Architecture Association Prize.
